So since I started, I thought I could probably finish the rest of the setup of the LTM VE edition. If you followed the last post, you should have the box at the login prompt from your VMWare console view. The default credentials are root/default. Log in to the shell using the credentials and then type ‘config’ to configure the base IP of the LTM.
Walk through the setup steps to set a base IP, mask, and default route.
Once that’s done, open a web browser and browse to the new IP address. You should get the login screen as shown below. Log in using the admin account. The default credentials are admin/admin.
Once you are logged in, you’ll need to license the box using the activation key that you received when you registered to download the VE LTM. Upon login, the device will ask you to start a setup wizard. Click ‘Next’ to start the setup utility. On the next screen click ‘Activate’ to enter the licensing window. Copy the registration key from you email to the ‘Base Registration Key’ area on the screen and press the ‘Next’ button.
Since this is just a LTM you shouldn’t need to change the resource provisioning so just click ‘Next’.
On the next screen confirm your network information and set the user administration settings as you wish. The click ‘Next’. Clicking next will log you out since your passwords have been changed. Log back in. When you log back in you’ll be given two options…
Since my goal here was just to give the box an IP and gain management access to it, I’m going to just click finished. In the next entry we will talk more about the actual network setup. At this point you should see the full LTM menu on the left hand side of the screen as shown below…
