Admin distance determines which route will be placed in the forwarding table if the same prefix is presented from different sources. Basically, the lowest number wins. So if you hear of a route to 10.0.0.0/8 through EIGRP and another route for 10.0.0.0/8 from eBGP, you’re router will take the eBGP path.
